In the face of potential changes to marriage equality protections--including the possibility that the Supreme Court is considering re-opening the Obergefell v Hodges ruling -- advanced care planning has never been more crucial for LBGT+ individuals and our loved ones. This workshop will empower participants to understand, prepare and document their healthcare wishes to ensure that trusted spouses, partners, friends and/or chosen family can be present and make decisions if they become hospitalized, incapacitated or are nearing the end-of-life.
We'll cover the key components of advanced directives, medical power of attorney and hospital visitation rights with a focus on how these documents can safeguard LGBT+ relationships in times of crisis.
